Brick Breaker: ten neon levels and Endless, free in your browser
The arcade classic, rebuilt in neon. Keep the ball in play with your paddle and clear every brick: tough ones crack before they break, metal ones never do, and explosive ones take their neighbours with them. Power-ups fall from broken bricks — multiball, lasers, a fireball, a sticky paddle — though a couple of them are traps. Play the ten-level Campaign, or Endless, where the wall creeps down out of the ceiling and never stops coming.
How to play
- Move the paddle with your mouse, the arrow keys, or by dragging anywhere on a touchscreen.
- Click, tap or press Space to launch the ball. Where it meets the paddle sets its angle: the edges send it off sharply, the middle sends it straight up.
- Break every brick that isn’t metal to clear a level. Catch the capsules that fall — or dodge the dark, striped ones.
- Miss the ball and you lose a life; you have three. In Endless, keep the creeping wall above the red line.
Controls
- Keyboard & mouse
- Mouse to steer · or ← → / A D · click or Space to launch · Esc to pause
- Touchscreen
- Drag anywhere to slide the paddle — it moves with your finger, so your finger never hides it. Tap to launch.
Scoring
Bricks are worth 10 points, tough ones 25 or 40 and explosive ones 15. Break several in one rally — without the ball touching the paddle — and the points multiply: ×2 from the fifth brick, up to ×5. Clearing a level adds a bonus that grows with each level, and finishing the Campaign pays 1,000 for every life left.
Tips
- To get behind a wall of metal, hit the ball near the paddle’s edge: it leaves at a sharp angle.
- Once the ball is above the bricks it can bounce around up there for a long, high-scoring rally.
- Explosives chain into each other. Aim for one next to a cluster of tough bricks.
- Dark, striped capsules shrink your paddle or speed the ball up. Let them fall.
Questions
How do you play Brick Breaker?
Move the paddle to keep the ball from falling past it and bounce it into the bricks. Break every brick except the metal ones to clear the level.
What do the power-ups do?
W widens the paddle, M splits the ball into three, L fires lasers, S slows the ball, F makes a fireball that burns through bricks, C makes the paddle catch the ball and + gives back a life. The dark ones, − and », shrink the paddle or speed the ball up.
Is every level possible?
Yes. A test program plays every level to the end with the game’s own physics, and checks no brick is ever sealed in behind metal where the ball can’t reach.
Can I play Brick Breaker on my phone?
Yes. Drag anywhere on the screen to move the paddle and tap to launch. The paddle follows your finger from wherever you start, so your thumb never covers it.
