Neon Runner: a free endless runner game
An endless runner set in a synthwave night: a neon track under a striped sun, a city of lit windows behind you and a soundtrack that speeds up as you do. Jump the barriers and the pits, slide under the beams and drones, and grab the coins along the way. Endless mode lays a fresh course every run; the Daily Run is one course for everyone, all day.
How to play
- Pick Endless, or the Daily Run — the same course for everyone today.
- You run on your own. Jump over hurdles, walls and pits; slide under beams. Drones can be slid under or jumped with a full jump.
- Hold jump for a higher jump; tap it for a short hop. Slide in mid-air to drop fast.
- You speed up the further you go — from 9 to 19 metres a second.
Controls
- Keyboard & mouse
- Space, ↑ or W to jump — hold for higher · ↓ or S to slide · Esc to pause
- Touchscreen
- Tap the right half of the screen to jump (hold for higher) and the left half to slide.
Scoring
Your score is the metres you run plus 10 for every coin. Endless and the Daily Run keep separate bests, and a dashed BEST flag marks your longest run on the track.
Tips
- Hurdles only need a tap; walls need jump held.
- Coins are laid along the arc of a perfect jump — follow them and you clear what’s underneath.
- Slide early for a beam and keep holding until you’re through; long beams need the hold.
- In mid-air, slide to drop straight down when you need to be on the ground sooner.
Questions
What is an endless runner?
A game where your character runs on its own and never stops: you only jump and slide to avoid obstacles, and the run goes on until you crash. The aim is to get further each time.
What is the Daily Run?
One course, the same for everyone, that changes at midnight. Your best on today’s course is kept separately, so you can compare runs with friends.
Is every obstacle possible?
Yes. Every piece of the course is checked by a program that plays it with the game’s own physics at every speed and proves there is at least 120 milliseconds of timing to spare — with a weaker jump too.
Does Neon Runner work on phones?
Yes. Tap the right half of the screen to jump and the left half to slide; you can use two thumbs.
