Mini Golf: nine neon holes, free in your browser
A nine-hole mini golf course under black light, called Neon Nine. Drag back from anywhere and let go to putt, like a slingshot: the further you pull, the harder you hit. The holes get trickier as you go — sand traps, a moat, bumper alleys, a turning windmill, a sliding block and a pair of portals — and near the cup the game slows down so you can watch it drop.
How to play
- Press anywhere on the course and drag back, away from where you want the ball to go. The dotted line shows the direction, and its length and colour show the power.
- Let go to putt. A ball rolling too fast hops straight over the cup, so finish gently.
- Water costs you a stroke and puts the ball back where you hit it from. Sand slows it down hard.
- Play all nine holes; your score is your total strokes. A hole is picked up after four strokes over par.
Controls
- Keyboard & mouse
- Drag back from anywhere with the mouse and let go · or ← → to aim and hold Space for power · Esc to pause
- Touchscreen
- Drag back from anywhere on the course with your finger and let go. On a phone held upright the course turns to fill the screen.
Scoring
Your score is total strokes for the round — lower is better — shown against the course par of 26: “−2” means two under par. The scorecard at the end marks holes in one, birdies (one under par) and bogeys (one over).
Tips
- Short putts need far less pull than you think: anything faster than a firm roll lips out.
- Walls bounce well. A bank shot off a wall is often safer than threading a gap.
- On the Windmill hole, watch a turn of the blades and hit just after one passes.
- Slopes keep pushing. Aim uphill of the cup and let the slope bring it down.
Questions
How do you putt in Mini Golf?
Press anywhere on the course, drag back the opposite way to where you want to go, and let go. The further you drag, the harder the putt.
What is par?
The number of strokes a good player should take. The nine holes of Neon Nine add up to par 26; finishing in 24 is “two under par”.
Is every hole possible within par?
Yes. Every hole is checked by a program that plays thousands of shots with the game’s own physics and proves each one can be sunk within par — with shots that still work if you’re a little off.
Can I play mini golf on my phone?
Yes. Drag with your finger to putt. Held upright, the course rotates a quarter turn so it fills the screen.
