Rhythm Tap: the rhythm game where you play the melody

Notes slide down a neon highway toward four keys. Hit each one as it crosses the line and it plays the next note of the song — the chart is the melody, so a clean run sounds like music and a missed note leaves a hole in the tune. Three original tracks, each with its own sound: a lo-fi tape, a synthwave night drive and a chiptune sprint.

How to play

  1. Pick a song and a difficulty. On Chill you play the notes on the beat while the band plays the rest; Intense adds fast runs and harmony notes.
  2. Press D, F, J or K (or tap the pads) as each note reaches the line.
  3. Hold through the long notes — let go early and the note sags flat.
  4. Chain hits to raise your multiplier, and fill the fever bar with Perfects for double points.

Controls

Keyboard & mouse

Tap the four pads under the highway, and hold them through long notes.

Scoring

A Perfect (within 40 ms) scores 300, a Great (80 ms) 200 and a Good (125 ms) 100, times your combo multiplier up to ×4 — doubled during fever. The results show your accuracy, max combo, a grade, and whether you tend to hit early or late.

Tips

  • Turn the sound on. The music is the best timing guide you have.
  • If your results say you hit early or late on average, adjust for it — that number is your setup’s latency.
  • Watch the line, not the notes. Let the notes come to you.

Questions

Do I need headphones?

No, but they help. Bluetooth headphones add audio delay, so wired headphones or speakers keep the music in sync with the notes.

What do the difficulties change?

Chill charts only the notes on the beat, Normal charts the whole melody, and Intense adds sixteenth-note runs and a harmony note on chorus beats.

Are the songs original?

Yes. All three were written for this game and are played live by your browser’s audio engine — nothing is streamed.
