Neon Snake: play the classic snake game online
The snake game everyone knows — steer, eat the apples, grow longer, don’t bite yourself — rebuilt as a glowing neon tube that glides instead of jumping from square to square. Play Classic, where the edge is a wall; Wrap, where it loops around; or one of five mazes with tunnels and portals. Turns are buffered, so a quick double-tap makes a tight U-turn instead of a crash.
How to play
- Pick a mode — Classic, Wrap or Maze — and, for Maze, one of the five layouts.
- Steer with the arrow keys, WASD, or by swiping. The snake sets off on your first turn.
- Eat the red apples. Each one makes you one longer and a little faster.
- Don’t hit a wall or your own body. In Wrap mode, and through a maze’s tunnels, the edge loops to the other side; a portal sends you out of its twin, still heading the same way.

Scoring
Apples are worth 10 points and golden apples 50. Eat apples quickly one after another — the ring around each apple shows how long you have — for a combo: ×2 after two quick apples, ×3 after four. A slow apple resets it. Classic, Wrap and each maze keep their own best.
Tips
- Turn a beat early: a turn you press as the head slides into a square is taken as it leaves it.
- Tap two directions quickly for a tight U-turn — both turns are queued, so you won’t bite yourself.
- Once you’re long, keep to the edges and leave yourself a way out. Your tail always moves out of the way.
- A golden apple appears after every fifth apple and fades after five seconds. With a ×3 combo it’s worth 150.

How do you play Snake?
Steer the snake to the apples. Every apple makes it longer, and the game ends when its head hits a wall or its own body, so the longer you last, the higher your score.
Can I play Snake on my phone?
Yes. Swipe anywhere on the board to turn, and keep your thumb down to chain several turns in one swipe.
Why didn’t my snake turn back on itself?
A turn straight back into your own neck is ignored rather than counted as a crash. Quick turns are queued, so pressing up then left fast makes a clean U-turn.
What do the portals do?
In Maze mode the numbered portals come in pairs: go into one and you come out of its twin, still heading the same way. Every maze is checked by a program that proves each square is reachable and no portal drops you into a wall.
Can you win at Snake?
Yes — fill the whole board and the game ends in a win. Big scores usually come from holding a ×3 combo and catching every golden apple.
